Resins are highly liquid and therefore easily mixed and addition rates are low, typically less than 1%. Boxless moulding is possible and there are no limitations on mould or core weight.
ESHANOL and FUROTEC resin systems are compatible with most commonly used foundry sands, and after casting the sand can be reclaimed and re-used within the moulding process.
ESHANOL and FUROTEC are low fume so problems with smell and harmful gases are greatly reduced.
Alkaline-Phenolic resin systems
The FENOTEC system uses an alkaline phenolic resin binder cured with an organic liquid ester. A range of liquid hardeners are available designed to cater for a wide range of setting times.
Suitable for the production of both moulds and cores, FENOTEC can be used on a wide range of castings in a wide range of alloys. FENOTEC is compatible with clean dry silica sand (AFS 30 100) as well as
chromite, olivine and zircon sands. The system also allows for the reclamation of the moulding sand after casting.
FENOTEC is adaptable to all mixing methods but is ideally suited to high speed continuous mixers. Batch mixers can be used but allowances should be made for extended mixing time when selecting the required ester hardener.
The high strength of FENOTEC binders means good mould strengths can be achieved at low addition rates. The products have negligible mixing fumes and low odour on casting and knock-out.
Casting surface finish is excellent without the nitrogen, sulphur or phosphorous related defects associated with the use of other binder systems.
Polyurethane nobake resin systems
POLISET binders are a three part system comprising :
- a liquid phenol : formaldehyde resin (part 1)
- a liquid polyisocyanate (part 2)
- a liquid tertiary amine (part 3)
All three components are mixed with the foundry sand in a continuous or batch mixer prior to creation of the mould or core. The strip-time of the mould or core is dependent on the particular grade of part 3 used, and will typically be between
3 and 20 minutes.
One of the main benefits of the POLISET system is the degree of work-time which is available as a percentage of the strip-time (typically 60 80%).
POLISET binders provide excellent post casting breakdown, which can help to eliminate hot tearing defects and can be used with high levels of reclaimed sand.
DUOMIX nobake resin control system
The DUOMIX system optimises resin and hardener additions enabling the foundry to maintain process control and improve binder usage economies.
The system uses input data for sand and ambient temperature to control the dosing ratio of the two hardeners. The ratio of the two hardeners is automatically adjusted to maintain the desired curing time under all temperature conditions.
